Training Roster

Dynamic stretching

  • Short stretch duration and more associated with movements that are replicated in the sport
  • More motor units (muscle & nerves) used which help minimise injuries
  • Has been shown to increase measures of power, agility and run economy due to increased elastic energy

Muscles are often torn because they are ‘not warm enough’. What happens is that not all motor units fire at the same time and only some muscle fibres are used. When not all the muscle is working it cannot take the regular amount of force that it is put under and tears (generally at the point of max force/ the ‘belly’ of the muscle). This type of stretching is generally performed prior to training/exercise.
